We are seeking a Workforce Development Manager who will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, develop, and retain a skilled workforce. This person will focus on employee development, apprenticeship and training programs, career pathway planning, and partnerships with trade schools, workforce organizations, and community programs. The Workforce Development Manager works closely with leadership, field supervisors, and HR to ensure employees have the training and support needed to grow within the company and meet business needs.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage Carlton’s workforce development and training programs
- Coordinate, schedule, and lead internal training sessions for field and office employees
- Partner with operations leadership to identify skill gaps and training needs across teams
- Align training programs with defined career pathways, promotions, and long-term employee development
- Oversee apprenticeship programs and ensure compliance with applicable licensing and certification requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with trade schools, workforce development programs, and industry training partners
- Track and maintain records of training hours, certifications, licenses, and employee development progress
- Support onboarding programs and create structured development plans for new hires
- Coach and support field leaders in developing and mentoring their teams
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust content to improve outcomes
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and internal advancement
- Collaborate with HR and leadership on workforce planning and future staffing needs
- Assist in developing leadership training and advancement opportunities for high-potential employees
- Ensure training materials and programs align with company policies, safety standards, and industry’s best practices
- Represent the company at career fairs, industry events, and workforce development initiatives when appropriate
- 7+ years of electrical field experience required.
- 3+ years of experience leading field teams in electrical trade required.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with field leaders, employees, and external partners required.
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs for a variety of audiences required. Must be ok with public speaking.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and track training progress required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 7+ years of electrical field experience required.
- 3+ years of experience leading field teams in electrical trade required.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with field leaders, employees, and external partners required.
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs for a variety of audiences required. Must be ok with public speaking.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and track training progress required.

- Proficiency with Bluebeam required.
Preferred:
- JW or ME electrical license preferred.
- Experience working with apprenticeship programs, licensing requirements, or technical training environments preferred.
- Proficiency with Claude AI preferred.
- Knowledge of state apprenticeship programs and workforce development initiatives preferred.
- Experience partnering with trade schools, community organizations, or workforce training programs preferred.
- Previous experience developing leadership or career development programs preferred.
Reporting: The Workforce Development Manager reports to the HR Manager & Director.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for prolonged periods.
- Use hands and fingers to type, grip, write, maneuver, feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:
- Primary work environment: Approximately 75% on active construction sites (indoor and outdoor) and 25% in an office setting.
- Site travel: Frequent travel to job sites across the Colorado Front Range (from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins), though travel may extend beyond depending on job sites.
- Variable conditions: Work may be performed in hot, cold, wet, muddy, humid, windy, or otherwise challenging weather and terrain.
- Elevated/restricted work: Ability to work at heights (ladders, aerial lifts) and in confined spaces (crawl spaces, vaults, trenches, manholes, etc.).
- Personal protective equipment (PPE): Required at all times on job sites, including safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Noise & environment: Exposure to typical office noise levels and varying job site environments.
Compensation Package:
- Location: In office - Denver, Colorado
- Status: Full-Time, Exempt
- Start Date: September 7, 2026
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with occasional nights and weekends if needed
- Pay Range: $80,000–$90,000/year, depending on experience. * *This range represents a good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Carlton Electric reserves the right to adjust compensation based on factors such as experience, education, certifications, performance, and travel requirements.
- Bonuses: This position is eligible for but not guaranteed a yearly performance bonus.
